During the last 10 years the Vulchitrun female choir “Nightingale” participated in number of important festivals in Bulgaria. Among their most prestigious awards is first prize from Kustendil – “Pautalia” International folk songs festival; first prize in the National festival for folklore and old city song “Fall of the leaf memories”, gold medal from the Sofia spring festival and a lot of other awards. The choir is from the village of Vulchitrun, located in north-central Bulgaria, part of the Pleven district. It is famous for the Vulchitrun trakian gold treasure, discovered in 1924, a priceless monument of the Bronze Era. The first historical evidence of the village dates as far back as 1570 AC. They are privileged to belong to a place with traditions in education and preservation of the traditional village culture and values. Over the years they have created an ethnographic collection in their village hall to remind them of the beauty of their heritage. Their community centre is a place for reading, singing, dancing and entertainment.
