The Chamber Choir “Consonanza” was founded in 1993. Its members are students and workers of the Wrocław University of Technology and other high schools. The fourth largest city in Poland, Wrocław is the capital of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The choir takes an active part in its artistic life, but also participates in international festivals, presenting Polish and foreign works from medieval and Renaissance music through Baroque to modern compositions. “Consonanza” has been awarded many prizes, such as second prize in the "XXXIII Internationaler Chorbewerb im Schloss Porcia” in Spittal an der Drau, Austria (1996), first prize in the International Orthodox Music Festival in Hajnówka, Poland (1997), and Gran Prix in the Religious Music Competition in Wrocław (2001), just to name a few. The choir has taken part in many festivals in countries such as France, England, Hungary, Italy and Portugal, recording three audio CDs in the meantime. Since its founding, the artistic director of “Consonanza” has been Marta Kierska-Witczak, a doctor of art. She graduated from the Musical Education Faculty in the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wrocław (MA degree), and then developed her conducting skills through postgraduate studies (Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz) and seminars (Russia, Austria, Poland). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
