Folk Section
Lunds Akademiska Kör (Lund Academic Choir), is a youth choir with a long tradition and high ambitions. The choir was founded in 1927 as a women’s choir but later became a mixed choir in order to extend its repertoire. The singers are mostly students with a great interest in music. The choir has a varied repertoire, but the focus is on classical a capella choral music. The choir has won several international awards, including a gold medal in the Orlando di Lasso-festival in Rome 2000, the prize for best conductor in the 2008 international choir festival in Miedzyzdroje, Poland, and the grand prix in the 2010 international choir festival in Miedzyzdroje. Cecilia Martin-Löf, born 1974, has been the choir’s conductor since 2007. She has studied the piano and orchestral conducting at the Ingesund College of Music and choral conducting at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Lund, situated in the centre of the attractive and expansive Öresund region in southern Sweden, is one of the oldest cities in Sweden with a history more than one thousand years old. Here, the university, science-park, multicultural atmosphere and historical surroundings make Lund an international city where ideas are born. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
