The choir of St. Sava primary school in Niš traditionally performs at all important events in the city and beyond. The conductor, Ms. Gordana Stamenković, is an experienced educator of music and she works in two primary schools as a teacher of music and choral singing. She has won numerous awards at regional and national competitions in Serbia.

Niš is the second-largest city in Serbia (after Belgrade), and is the largest city in the southern part of the country. According to the 2008 census, the municipality of Niš had 370,000 inhabitants. Niš is the administrative center of the Nišava District. It is one of the oldest cities in the Balkans and is believed to be the birth place of the Roman Emperor Constantine. In 2013 the city will host the Ecumenical Assembly of Christian Churches, to mark 1700 years of Constantine's Edict of Milan.
