Children's Choir Dobri Hristov at the Center for Personal Development Support – Municipal Children’s complex, Varna is one of the first Bulgarian children's choirs founded in 1952-1953. Engaged with solo, ensemble and polyphonic choral singing, children learn about different musical styles - Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, contemporary music. With great interest singers refer to songs by Bulgarian composers. In the year of 2019 Children’s Choir Dobri Hristov was honored with the Jordan Kamdzhalov Foundation Award at the XI Festival of Female and Girl’s Choirs Prof. Lilia Gyuleva, Targovishte. In 2021 the choir received the Gold Award from the World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna, Austria and the First prize from the Fifth International Moscow Music Competition.
Since 2016 conductor of Children’s choir “Dobri Hristov” – Varna is Galina Stanisheva. She graduated from the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv with a degree of Music Pedagogy, specialized in classical singing in the class of Prof. Valentina Alexandrova and studied conducting with Assoc. Prof. Krikor Chetinyan. For her contribution to the musical art, Galina Stanisheva was honored with a Silver Lyre by the Union of the Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers. In 2022 she received the prestigious “Varna prize - Teacher of the Year”.
Varna is a beautiful city along the Bulgarian North Black Sea Coast, known as the cradle of the oldest European civilization. The city is a host of "Varna Summer" International Music Festival which has presented soloists, conductors, symphony and chamber orchestras, choirs, opera ensembles from around the world.
