Appassionato

Appassionato choir comes from the Valahia University of Targoviste - Faculty of Science and Arts. The group was founded in 1999. The repertoire consists mainly of Romanian folk songs from the secular and religious traditions, but also classical and contemporary songs. In the last 14 years, the choir has performed in many international competitions including: Choral Music Festival, Montreux, Schwitzerland (2007), International Choir Festival, Krakow, Poland (2010), Prague Voices (2012).

The conductor Florin Badea PhD is an associate professor of the Department of Arts from Valahia University of Targoviste. He is the founder and conductor of many vocal-instrumental groups: Syrinx, Acclamatio, Appassionato, Cantabile. Since 1982, he participated at various musical festivals and competitions, where he has won over 23 prizes.

Situated in the south-central part of the country, on Ialomita River, at the foot of the Carpathian Hills, Targoviste is the commercial crossroads which linked Central Europe and Transylvania to the Danube. In 1396 it became the capital of the Romanian Country. This position was kept until 1659, when the Ottoman Empire imposed Bucharest as the new capital. Currently, it is the administrative residence of Dambovita Department. There are two industrial platforms, a state university, 11 high schools, a dramatic theatre, a theatre for children, parks, museums and monuments of art and architecture.
