Chamber choir “Te Deum” was founded in 1990 in Kaunas Christ's Resurrection Church. Since 1996, the director of the choir has been Audrius Petrauskas. In 2003, the choir moved to Kaunas St. Michael the Archangel (Garrison) Church.
In 2004 and 2007, Chamber choir “Te Deum” was the laureate of the sacral music competition “Cantate Domino”. In 2009 the choir had success in choir's competition “Lithuanian Voices,” broadcasted in Lithuania and worldwide by Lithuanian National Television. In 2011, Chamber choir “Te Deum” was awarded a special prize for best performance of obligatory song in the international choral competition “Laudate Dominum”
The choir's conductor, Audrius Petrauskas, graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and received the Choir Conducting Masters degree (under the guidance of Prof. P. Bingelis). Presently he is a singer in Kaunas State Choir.
Kaunas is the second-largest city in Lithuania and has historically been a leading centre of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. Kaunas was the temporary capital of Lithuania from 1919 until 1939 when the capital Vilnius was annexed by Poland.
