The Choir "Anchorus" was founded in 2017 by experienced choristers who previously have participated in various choirs. They have been led by the vision of reaching the highest standards in choral art in Turkey and exhibiting their potential on relevant musical scenes abroad.
Cihan Selcuk was born in Istanbul in 1981. In 1999, he joined the Polyphonic Choir of Middle East Technical University as a Tenor. In 2013, he joined Ankara Polyphonic Choir, where he gained experience by assisting the rehearsals. In the beginning of 2017, he stared the work with Anchorus. In addition to his choral activity, he studies harmony and music theory under the tutelage of İsmail Sezen at The State Conservatory, Department of Musicology. He has also composed choral works and choral arrangements.
Ankara is the capital and the second largest city of The Republic of Turkey. The city, which was anciently called Ancyra (anchor), has many things to offer to travelers including the historical places of Ankara Castle, Roman Theater, Temple of Augustus and Rome, Roman Baths and Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Anatolian Civilizations Museum is also located in the city, which exhibits various artifacts from various ages in the history of human civilization. With a considerable amount of musicians, conservatories, schools of music and polyphonic choirs, Ankara is a city where music is widely respected.
