The Chamber Choir Caedonia was established in 1968 in Sibiu, Romania. The choir has been selected to participate in numerous national festivals. After 1990 the choir had tournaments in Austria, Germany and the USA, becoming an honorary member of Karnter Sangerbund (Austria) and of the National Association of Romanian Choir. Their wide repertoire includes pre-classical, classical, romantic works, the Romanian choir masters, folk arrangements, and religious works with a special emphasis on the Orthodox Liturgy and carols.
Professor Florin Soare took over the choir’s leadership in 1980. He is a graduate of “Gh. Dima Conservatoire Academy of Music” in Cluj- Napoca and he has been the vice-president of the Choir Association in Romania since 1997.
In December 2007 and 2008, the Chamber Choir Caedonia participated in two competitions on the eastern and western coast of the USA, sharing the joy of carols and Romanian traditions. The choir celebrated Sibiu’s honor of being the European Cultural Capital of 2007 with the established Romanian communities in the United States.
