Euphonia originates from Tămaia’s Orthodox Church in Maramureș County, Romania. In November 2011, professor Cosmin Lauran was invited to revive a ninety years old choir tradition in Tămaia, hence forming the choir in its present day form. The choir has participated at several local carol festivals, performed live at local TV stations and sung during the Liturgy in different churches where they have been invited. Their repertoire includes over forty sacred and lay songs, as well as the Divine Liturgy in the Orthodox Rite. In December 2014 the choir recorded a carol album and was awarded 2nd place at the National Choral Festival in Orăștie, Romania. At the same festival, the choir was awarded a special prize for their interpretation of a traditional song.
