Founded in 1981 by Mr. Leszek Pollak, The Youth Mixed Choir “Ave Sol” is one of the best Polish amateur choirs. The rich variety of the choir’s repertoire, comprising a capella works of all of periods and a variety of music connected with the great singers' techniques, brings to “Ave Sol” high appreciation and position in critics' and juries' eyes in Poland and abroad every year. Those achievements are possible thanks to hard work and close collaboration with the Bielsko-Biala Cultural Centre.
Most important prizes:
- 1994: 1st Prize in the Youth Choirs Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium;
- 2003: 1st Prize in Choir Competition in Legnica, Poland
- 2013: Golden Tuning-fork in XXXIII Polish a cappella Choir Competition for Children and Youth in Bydgoszcz, Poland
Conductor Leszek Pollak graduated from the Faculty of Musical Education at Silesian University. He finished his postgraduate studies in the Music Academy of Bydgoszcz, specializing in choir conducting and voice technique. He spent a significant amount of time teaching at the Music Institute of Silesian University in Katowice.
The city Bielsko-Biala was formed in 1951, by joining Bielsko and Biala which are situated across the river from each other in the southern region of the country. The city is well known in Poland for organizing nationwide and international cultural events.
