The choir was established in 1996. It was founded by Beata Szymanska, who is the choir's director. The group consists of students and graduates of the Educational-Artistic Department in Kalisz - of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. The choir performs in Poland and abroad (Germany, Italy, Sweden). During its activite period, the choir participated in many international and local artistic events. It also took part in various symphonic projects. Its repertoire includes both a capella pieces from various periods as well as vocal-instrumental music.
In 2012, the choir recorded an album along with the bassoonist, Nikodem Antosikiem: Agnus Dei - concert to the bassoon and the choir opus 167 – by Egil Hovland (Polish first performance).
Beata Szymanska is a graduate of the Pedagogic-artistic Department of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. In 2001, she obtained her Ph.D. from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.
The choir comes from Kalisz - the oldest town in Poland. The town was located in a very important and strategic point along the “Amber Trail”, which connected the Roman Empire with the Baltic Sea coast. At present, Kalisz is the second largest town in the region of Greater Poland, located in the picturesque valley of the Prosna River. The areas magical beauty is quite enchanting, for there the past is harmoniously intertwining with the present, creating a unique atmosphere.
