The choir was founded in 1961. Ever since its founding, it has been a part of the cultural life of the town of Zrenjanin and regularly performs at choir festivals and competitions throughout Serbia and abroad. The choir has won 25 awards, the most recent of which are two first place prizes from Neerpelt (2008 and 2010). The choir consists of several sections: girls youth choir as a section was founded in 2010 and they won a gold medal at the World Choir Championship Graz (2011); the ethnic group was founded in 2009. With great joy, the choir spreads the soul and the spirit of Serbian folk music to other cultures. They are proud of winning the gold diploma in the categories of mixed youth and youth female choirs in Bad Ischl (2013).
Zorica Kozlovacki is the conductor of the choir. The choristers say that she is the "Smiling woman in the little black dress in front of the choir who transmits energy, emotions, joy and love. She wants to infect us all with her love for choral singing and music." She obtained her Master of Music diploma in the field of choral conducting at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia.
