The “Svyato” choir was established in 1995 as a church choir of Svyato-Uspenskiy temple in the city of Illichevsk, Ukraine. Its members are amateurs of choir singing and are representatives of different professions and studies. Since 2007, the choir has taken part in different choir festivals in Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria and Poland. The team's repertoire consists of pieces of spiritual music from Russian and Ukrainian composers as well as Ukrainian folk songs. Some of the choir's awards are:
- The title of prize-winner of the “Paschalnie pesnopenia” festival (Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine);
- The diploma of awardee of the “Presvyataya Bogoroditsa Dostoino yest” festival (Pomorie, Bulgaria);
- A bronze diploma of the International Choir Festival (Miedzyzdroje, Poland).
Ganna Grusheva, the choir's conductor, was born in 1975. She graduated from the Odessa Musical Academy in the class of choir conducting. She's also been the head of the “Svyato” choir since 1995 and teaches at the Gymnasium in Illichevsk.
Illichevsk is a small, cozy coastal city in the South of Ukraine. It is a unique and friendly community and people are amiable and outgoing. The town is maintained, clean, safe, pleasant and guests are always welcome.
