Children’s Choir of Josip Runjanin Music School

The choir members are students in third to sixth grade from the music school "Josip Runjanin" in Vinkovci. The choir performs at major cultural events in Vinkovci, such as the county school choir competition (first place for years), the State Choir Competition (awarded the silver plaque seven times) and the international competition Vallis Aurea Cantat in Croatia (first prize in popular music and Grand Prix of the entire competition).

Zrinka Simunovic works as a music teacher in primary school as well as in the Vinkovci music school where she teaches music, choral singing and music theory. She is also an educational counselor and is currently in pursuit of a PhD. The choirs that she leads regularly preform at the state choral competitions with high results.

Vinkovci is a village lying along the banks of the Bosut River in the rich and green Slavonian plain. The town core is still within the walls of the Roman settlement of “Colonia Aurelia Cibalae”, and was the birth place of two Roman emperors. Vinkovci became the military center of the region in the Hapsburg Monarchy, the time during which it developed very quickly and acquired the baroque appearance that it is currently known for. The town is also known for its national festivals such as “Vinkovačke jeseni” and the “Festival of the Actor’s”.

Vinkovci and Ohrid have been twinned towns for many years.
