The vocal music group “Libero” was formed in 2010 with the intention to preserve and develop polyphonic singing in an a capella men's band. The repertoire of the group is based on the Serbian spiritual and folk music tradition, but it is enriched by the exquisite European musical works and the music of the whole world. As news of the new form of band "a capella" had not yet reached Serbia, the “Libero” group has the privilege, the honour & the responsibility to be the role model to the other a capella groups which have been formed in the last few years in Serbia. The purpose of this group is to promote chamber vocal ensembles, as well as to preserve the traditional music of Leskovac and this part of Serbia. The group has also influenced new genres. So far, this group has had a few very successful music performances in the city's cultural events such as:
- the concert on Ledamus in June of 2010 & 2011
- A concert during the city concerts season in May 2013
- Concerts in Banja Luka, Novi Sad and Jagodina as part of the project “Tragom nezaborava” (“Following the Steps of the Unforgetable”) together with the chamber orchestra “Amorozo” and children choir “Stars” from Leskovac
- The group achieved great success at the Ohrid Choir Festival winning the third prize among the competition of 50 choirs from the whole Europe in August 2012
- Another great success was achieved at the Rimini choral competition, winning two second place prizes in two categories and a position in the final competition in September 2013
The group's authentic, honest and original opproach and the musical arrangements adapted for a capella quartet performing are the group's greatest contributions to the development of chamber vocal music. However, it is the choir's progress in media in general that has raised the standards of the vocal arts.
