The Vocal Ensemble “Musica Viva” (Sombor, Serbia) was established in 2004 from the members of the children’s choir which won several prizes at national and international festivals (2002-2005).

The ensemble sings in many genres – from Byzanth chants, renaissance, baroque and romance music to contemporary composers and arrangments of traditional folk songs. “Musica Viva” has performed concerts in many cities in Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia and Macedonia. “Musica Viva” organized many innovative musical projects such as “From Drum to the Voice” (2012-2014) with famous drummer Dragoljub Djuričić and “Drums Company”.

In July 2013, Vocal ensemble “Musica Viva” performed at the International Klapa Festival in Perast (MNE), and won the award for the best new klapa at the festival. In August 2013, “Musica Viva” took 2nd place at the Ohrid Choir Festival.

The founder, conductor and artistic director of the ensemble is Marita Topić (1977), dedicated to learning and spreading the healing aspects of music, chanting and singing (that is why the ensemble sings in the natural, old tuning frequency - A 432Hz).

The city of Sombor is situated in the far northwest of the Republic of Serbia. The international border crossings of Bezdan and Bogojevo connect it to the Republic of Croatia and Bački Breg to the Republic of Hungary. Sombor has a population of 48,000, while its administrative area (including neighboring villages) has 85,903 inhabitants. It is the administrative center of the West Bačka District. Sombor is famous for its greenery, cultural life and its beautiful 18th and 19th century center. Sombor's rich history includes the oldest institution for higher education in the Serbian language.
