The E STuudio Chamber Choir was founded in 2004, modeled on the girls choir which had been singing together since 1989 in the small town of Põlva in south Estonia. The idea of creating a chamber choir came about when most of the young singers had graduated from secondary school and continued their studies in Tartu or Tallinn. The choir started rehearsing in the university town Tartu. As a project choir the membership differs a little bit every season.
Singers are brought together by their love for music and the wish to perform a diverse and often demanding repertoire. The choir has participated in several festivals and choral contests in Estonia and abroad (Finland, Canada, Italy, Norway).
The most important achievements have been the 1st place prizes in the categories of folk music and sacred music in Grieg International Choir Festival in Bergen and the title for the best performance of the compulsory piece in the Estonian Chamber Choir Festival in 2012.
Küllike Joosing, the current main conductor of the choir, started to work with the choir in 2008. Since Autumn 2013, Eliisa Sakarias has been working with the choir as an assistant conductor.
Küllike Joosing graduated from Estonian Music Academy where she studied choral conducting in the class of professor Ants Üleoja. She has worked as a music teacher and conducted several choirs: Chamber Choir SoLeMiJo, E STuudio Girls Choir and Tartu Students’ Choir.
