The Nazim Hikmet Academy Choir was founded by its conductor, Erdem Nusret Karakas in 2011. The choir's aim is to break out of the routines of the music market and provide an alternative to those who desire to discover the musical diversity and richness created by composers from different countries, languages, styles and eras. The choir's members are students and ex-students from the academy as well as amateurs. The rich repertoire of the choir includes classical music from renaissance to romanticism, pop, jazz and folk music arrangements, as well as children's songs.
