The members of "Kivi" gather at the Lithuanian Youth Centre, a place where members meet their friends to have fun and sing. The choir preforms at charity events and concerts as well as at various festivals and competitions in Lithuania and other countries. The choir consists mainly of girls 16-19 years old. 

Their repertoire varies from re-arranged Lithuanian folk songs, to popular music pieces as well as jazz standards. They often perform Lithuanian folk music when competing internationally, trying to bring the Lithuanian culture and music to the people of the world. Due to its uniqueness in Lithuania, the choir has been invited to various commercial concerts. They have participated in many festivals and competitions in Lithuania and abroad.

Here are latest awards of the vocal group “Kivi”:

  • 2011: Takarazuka, Japan, gold medal in the Folk category
  • 2012: Šiauliai, Lithuania in a II International Festival “Cantat Šiauliai 2012”, “Kivi” received the conveted Grand Prix award
  • 2012: Cincinnati, USA VII Choir World Choir Games, gold medal in Jazz Category, gold medal in Pop category, silver medal in Folk category

The conductor of the choir, Danguole Aukseliene, was born in 1958 in Panevėžys, Lithuania. She is active as conductor, music educator, arranger and singer. She has a degree in choral conducting and music education from the Lithuanian Academy of Music. Currently, she works as educator at the jazz studio of the Lithuanian Youth Center in Vilnius as well as the music director and conductor of the Children and Youth Choir “Kivi”. She sings in acappella vocal group Jazz Land and is often invited to be a lecturer at choral workshops.

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania, and is its largest city. Vilnius is known for its Old Town of beautiful architecture and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
